The Best Wildwood Slices 2021
1st Place: Joe's Pizzeria - Avg: 4.25
We
have to start with this crazy statistic --
Joe's Pizzeria has been one of our
top 5 favorite slices for
5 of the last 7 years.
BUT this is very first time Joe's has ranked number 1.
Sure, Joe's has a reputation for being the biggest slice on the boardwalk -- so big that the shop can only cook two pies in their oven at a time + their huge pizza box doesn't fit through most motel room doors on the island -- but is it any good? Or is it just a gimmick to get people's attention?
We're relieved this huge pizza is also hugely delicious. When you bite into the slice, each ingredient stands out and brings unique flavor...It undoubtedly feels like each ingredient is carefully thought out. In talking with Joe himself, we learned this is no accident -- the sauce, cheese and dough are each prepared freshly in house every day. We can tell. Yet, at the same time, the real magic is how the ingredients compliment one another and the preparation come together to form the perfect slice. Our slice was perfectly cooked and the circular drizzle of sauce on top of the cheese remind you how good the flavor is while keeping the slice fresh, flavorful and fun to eat.
For your safety, please only order one slice of Joe's huge slices at a time.
Overall Rating: 4.25 out of 5
Brian: 4.0 Chris: 4.5 Frank: 4.5 Tim: 4.0
Slice Price: $5.00
Slice Size: 13.0 x 7.5 -- 50.6 square inches
2nd Place: Olympic Flame - Avg: 4.0
We've been saying it for years.
Olympic Flame's slice has been brutally delicious for the past 8 tours -- In addition to being in the top 5 each of those years, they won both the 2012 and 2016 tours + ranked 2nd place 5 times during that same time. Whew!
Their pan-cooked, cheesy, medium-yet-somehow-still-light-fluffy-crust slices always seem to his the spot these days. By all means, please try this slice and let us know what you think.
Overall Rating: 4.0 out of 5
Brian: 3.5 Chris: 4.5 Frank: 4.0 Tim: 4.0
Slice Price: $2.50

3rd Place: Little Nicky's - Avg: 3.9
Little Nicky's slice was one of the biggest mysteries of 2021...Under new ownership, would the fan-favorite North Wildwood pizza shop still deliver a great slice or would it just be fueled by fumes of nolstagia and the good old days?
We were all pleasantly surprised to discover Little Nicky's still packs a flavorful and highly agreeable pizza punch. The crispy crust and seemingly effortless blend of cheese and sauce set this slice apart, not only in the solid North Wildwood pizza scene, but also on the entire boardwalk.
Overall Rating: 3.9 out of 5
Brian: 3.5 Chris: 3.5 Frank: 4.5 Tim: 4.0
Slice Price: $2.83
Slice Size: 8.5 x 7.5 -- 31.88 square inches
4th Place: Sorrento II - Avg: 3.63
Sorrento won the very first Wildwood Pizza Tours in
2005 and
2006. Their picture perfect slice was delectable and brought them back to the top of our list for 2021.
Overall Rating: 3.63 out of 5
Brian: 4.0 Chris: 3.0 Frank: 3.5 Tim: 4.0
Slice Price: $3.00
Slice Size: 8.0 x 7.0 -- 30.63 square inches
5th Place: Route 66 - Avg: 3.38
Route 66 felt a little bit like an underdog landing in the top 5 this year, but upon closer inspection, they've been top 10 on our list the last 6 years! Nevertheless, Route 66 was a notch better this year, locking in as our number 5 favorite.
Overall Rating: 3.38 out of 5
Brian: 3.5 Chris: 3.0 Frank: 4.0 Tim: 3.0
Slice Price: $2.75

Largest Wildwood Pizza Slices
1. Joe's Pizzeria - 50.63 sq. inches
There are some indisputably huge slices of pizza on the Wildwood boardwalk. These kinds of slices aren’t good for one-handed eating, general multi-tasking, or for people who don't like pizza. Think twice before ordering two!

Most Controversial Slice
Hot Spot Restaurant & Pizzeria - 3.0 Range
While some slices garner general agreement among the Pizza Tour reviewers, there are certainly some that result in mixed opinions. So, which slice was the most controversial this year?
Hot Spot Restaurant & Pizzeria, located at Oak Avenue, received 3.5 stars from one reviewer -- a well-above-average rating (the boardwalk averaged just 2.3 overall!) -- while another reviewer gave it just 0.5 stars, which totally suggests passing on this slice. Who is right? You might want to try it and decide for yourself. You might agree with the reviewer that rated them well...
