More than 70 years ago, the Mackrone family started selling pizza at a restaurant near the Trenton fairgrounds in New Jersey. It was going pretty well so they decided to open a shop on the Seaside Heights boardwalk, which was also successful. One day they decided to jump in their car to take a fun road trip down to south Jersey. They ended up in the little town of Wildwood, which had become a hot vacation spot. They loved the town and decided to open up a shop on Wildwood's boardwalk.
The grand opening on Memorial Day weekend 1953 didn't go so hot. As a matter of fact, it poured rain all weekend and they only sold 8 pies the entire weekend! But this wasn't an indication of the success they were soon to have in the coming decades--eventually they had 4 locations and have become one of Wildwood's and New Jersey's most famous pizzerias.
What to expect from a Mack's pizza? A thin crust, cheddar-drive cheese blend, and a sweet tangy sauce.

Love the cheddar cheese pizza. Not the best ambiance, but always great good.

I have been eating Mack's pizza since I was young, my Dad used to buy me a slice on the boardwalk and now My husband and I go down for their opening day and closing day just to have Mack's and enjoy Wildwood for the Day. All other pizza is compared to Mack's for me. My family ate at Snuffy's in the crest which is no longer around, so now none of us agree on a pizza

Macks pizza is very greasy. They are whipping pizza's out so fast they are just slopping them together with no quality. Also nothing worse than a piece of dried out pizza that is thrown into an oven reheated to only have a warm dried out slice. Thumbs down for me.

Everyone in my family LOVES Mack's Pizza!! Even when we are in Ocean City, Maryland, we always take a day and take the Lewes Fairy over to Wildwood just so we can eat Mack's Pizza and enjoy Wildwood for a day.
I have been going to Wildwood since I was a baby, so I was introduced to this great pizza very early in my life and love it to this day!! I could really go for a slice of Mack's pizza right now!!
