Biography
Biography:
More than 70 years ago, the Mackrone family started selling pizza at a restaurant near the Trenton fairgrounds in New Jersey. It was going pretty well so they decided to open a shop on the Seaside Heights boardwalk, which was also successful. One day they decided to jump in their car to take a fun road trip down to south Jersey. They ended up in the little town of Wildwood, which had become a hot vacation spot. They loved the town and decided to open up a shop on Wildwood's boardwalk.
The grand opening on Memorial Day weekend 1953 didn't go so hot. As a matter of fact, it poured rain all weekend and they only sold 8 pies the entire weekend! But this wasn't an indication of the success they were soon to have in the coming decades--eventually they had 4 locations and have become one of Wildwood's and New Jersey's most famous pizzerias.
What to expect from a Mack's pizza? A thin crust, cheddar-drive cheese blend, and a sweet tangy sauce.

MMMMMM!!!! We have a tradition with our family over 40 years. Our children have now become big fans of Macks pizza. We are there every year to visit Macks at both locations and multiple times throughout our week there. We love Macks Pizza!!!

Love the pizza. If I'm within a 30 minute drive while showing properties (I'm with Century 21), I make the trip to get a couple of pies from Macks!

Have been going to Mack's for over 60 years. Used to live in Wildwood. Many years ago, moved to NYC. I travel from NYC every year, several times, just to get my fix of Mack's and take home a few half-baked pies. Still the best after all of these years.

Very salty and not that great. The sauce tastes like from a can. Sam’s is just so much better. I really can’t understand the hype around Mack’s. The best part is the think crust but that’s about it. Don’t ever order delivery. The few times we’ve had Mack’s deliveries it was awful.

Greasy, often burnt and many-times reheated, with inconsistent freshness. The cheddar in the cheese blend casts some serious doubt upon this pizzeria's Italian origins. Eaten here a few times over the years, always because someone else wanted it, and most (but admittedly not all) slices have been disappointing. I'm told this place was great in the '80s, but I can't wrap my head around how it's still such an institution decades later. It is the "Pat's King of Steaks" of the Wildwood Boardwalk.
